Dear International Students,

Welcome to the Department of Student Housing at the University of Kansas. My name is Jinyi Lu (Vicky); I am a sophomore from Hangzhou, China majoring in Journalism, International Studies, and minoring in French. I live in a scholarship hall during the school year and in McCollum residence hall during breaks.

Living in both a scholarship hall and a residence hall has made my time at KU much easier and more exciting. On-campus housing with its dining and transportation systems, makes life more convenient for newly-arrived international students. Different meal plan options and floor plans offer a number of affordable price ranges. The communal living environment encourages interaction with American students and international students as well. There are various activities, games and sports tournaments year-round within residence halls and scholarship halls. This helps international students get more involved with American culture.

On-campus housing encourages student success by providing strong academic support and resources. Overall, on-campus housing offers international students an easier transition into life at KU. It is a great environment to get involved in both academically and socially.

My experience with on-campus housing is the reason my stay at KU has been so enjoyable and welcoming. I think Housing goes far beyond just a simple living environment. With the right housing choice, you can enjoy your time at KU to the fullest extent. I really encourage you to consider on-campus housing; I am confident that it will bring you as many colorful memories as it has brought me. And once again, welcome to KU and the Department of Student Housing.
