Dear International Students,
Welcome to the University of Kansas, especially to the Department of Student Housing! My name is Oswaldo Bravo, and I am an undergraduate student in Civil Engineering. I am originally from Lima, Peru and was a scholarship hall resident before being hired as a Resident Assistant for Templin Hall.
As an international student myself, I am excited to welcome you to the Department of Student Housing, which provides easy and affordable on-campus housing for internationals. I believe living in KU student housing helps strengthen relationships with other international students as well as building new bonds with American students. By living in communities with students from the United States, as well as other countries, you learn more about their culture, and they understand more about yours. Also, student housing provides living environments that support academic achievement and offers resources that focus on learning as well as involvement through campus activities. Overall, on-campus living provides students with the necessary tools to succeed at the University of Kansas.
I have had a great experience while being a part of the student housing team! After living in both a scholarship hall and residence hall, I can tell you that the people I’ve met here have made my stay more welcoming and enjoyable. The international setting of KU encourages diversity through student living, so I urge you to get to know people and don’t be afraid to talk to anyone! I wish you all the best when you arrive, and once again, welcome to the Department of Student Housing!
